Backup4Sure Standard - review

In this article we will review the backup utility called Backup4Sure, which was developed by EtalonSoft in 2002. The main program advantages are easy-to-use interface and the presence of basic backup features. In this article we will review Backup4Sure Standard and stop on backup to CD and CDRW in particular. The program also has a Lite version, but it doesn’t support the discussed features. The other differences is support of backup to ISO image file and exclude filters – these options are also supported only by the Standard edition.

The program offers two main backup methods: backup to local and network folders and backup to CD. We would recommend using backup to CD as storing the backup data on the external storage media guarantees greater safety level then storing inside your computer. If you backup data to CD and your hard drive crashes you will still save your information, but it will be lost if its stored inside. Backup4Sure can perform your backups automatically if you set up a schedule. The other features include folders synchronization, compression of backup data, spanning disks for backup to CD and checksum error detection. However, there is no automatic backup of widespread programs like Microsoft Outlook, ICQ and Internet Explorer. There is also no availability to automatically protect your backup copy with encryption algorithms.

All things considered, the Backup4Sure Standard can satisfy your requirements if you need small and easy backup utility with backup to CD available. We were disappointed with the lack of functionality and can conclude that Backup4Sure Standard is not the most cost-effective backup solution.
