Backup to HD with TK8 Backup

This article will review another product supporting backup to HD – TK8 Backup by TK8 Software. There are two versions of this product: Standard and Professional, but both support backup to hard drive.

So, as any other backup utility the program supports automated backup of files and folders with or without sub-folders. Moreover, it supports backup of Windows Mail, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird and, of course, backup of Internet Explorer. All of this can be done with the use of backup to HD method.

Backup to hard disk can be performed as full, incremental and differential backup, but differential backup isn’t supported in the Standard version of TK8 Backup. Both versions support ZIP compression, but only Professional version supports encryption of backup copies. Most of the advanced features like working as a Windows Service, CPU priority management, file inclusion and exclusion filters by size and date, email notifications and some task manager options are also provided in Professional version only.

The interface of Standard and Professional versions is the same, quite easy to use. As in many other backup to hdd programs it is based on creation of backup tasks. All things considered, we liked the program TK8 Backup, which can be considered as a primary backup solution for backup to HD. Perhaps, there are too many limitations in Standard version, but if you don’t need these features or ready to pay extra $20 for Professional, the program will fulfill the most of your backup requirements.
